Jeff, Brenda and Dustin Hernandez:
"Our 14 year old son Dustin was given a new beginning with his education with the support of Dr. Kristen Gross. His learning challenges were causing painful emotional stress for our son and our family.
Dr. Gross began by listening to us as Dustin’s parent’s, our personal journey and concerns for Dustin (8th grader). She then took time to observe Dustin in his two most difficult classes before meeting him so she could observe his behavior consistent with his daily routine. Once she met Dustin, she understood how to build their relationship with great care and patience.
Once she evaluated everything, we most appreciated how she “saw” Dustin and genuinely cared about him and his future. Dr. Gross fought for our son’s education within a district we jointly sought the help of a state and private advocate for over five years.
She helped us understand many of his complexities and gave us insight to work through his tough moments with more patience and love. We are so thankful for Dr. Kristen Gross. These situations can be devastating for our families and once she dissected Dustin’s challenges, she believed in him and our family and so the healing begins."
Cynthia, Danville, Ca.:
"Kristin Gross, Ph.d was hired by our legal advocate and attorney to perform an I.E.E. on my grandson, a 4th grader with high functioning autism and dyslexia. She was compassionate and caring during her sessions with him and her comprehensive evaluation and recommendations have been invaluable in dealing with the school district and finding services to fit my grandson’s unique needs. Because of her assessment we have a better understanding of his disabilities and how to best support him. I will be forever grateful and thankful that Dr. Gross was and is part of Nathan’s present and future successes."
"As a psychologist myself, I sought out someone who is considered an expert in the field by my colleagues, for a neuropsychological evaluation for my school aged child. It was important for me to get past all the different diagnoses paraprofessionals were throwing out about my child, and to get the whole and integrated picture of what was happening, and to start figuring out how to get my child actual targeted help. The mother bear part of my self was protective and anxious about sending my child in for this kind of evaluation. Kristin immediately put both parts of my self (psychologist and mother) at ease, with her extremely approachable manor, availability and expertise. She was amazing with our child, and her testing and evaluation priceless. I highly recommend her."
Berkeley parent of an 8-year-old boy:
"Dr. Kristin Gross' expertise and professionalism were essential in understanding our child's profile and needs. Her patience, guidance and tenacity are gifts to any parent and guardian."
Mom of young autistic boy:
"Dr. Gross was instrumental in helping us obtain placement at the right school for our very unique and sensitive non-speaking five-year-old son. Thanks to Dr. Gross’s evaluation and recommendations, our son is finally in a program where he is thriving! When we started working with Dr. Gross I knew we were finally on the right track. With her help, we eventually found a school that was dedicated to helping children like Liam develop good relationships with their teachers – a critical foundation for working on communication, functional skills and eventually academics. We are overjoyed to see him happily bouncing into his classroom and smiling proudly at pickup time. We cannot express in words how much we appreciate the evaluation and recommendations Dr. Gross provided. We will continue to consult with her on our son’s educational program. I highly recommend her to any parents who are facing challenges with their child’s education."
